My issue with what Steve did was that a week prior he spoke against everything this man had spouted for the last 24 months. Then to come out and say he is “sincere” is to say that Steve isn’t. Yes you can change your mind and so can those who support him. If your president does something great for the communities that he has denigrated and belittled for the last 24 months then I will be glad to see that. But he doesn’t get a pass on what he has presented, said, and spouted up until today. At the end of the day the only thing you have is your word and Steve’s word is a little iffy because you cannot talk out of both sides of your mouth. I believe Martin would have gone to speak with the opposition also (as he did many times) however he went because he wanted his voice to be heard on issues not to throw support behind the oppressor. You cannot have it both ways. Solidarity is a concept lost on us and we need to find it or will continue to lose the ground that Martin’s generation fought and died for. Please stop making concessions for people based on how it effects YOUR pockets and think about those who do not live in YOUR house who will be negatively affected by the decisions that they just have to “live” with. Until we get to the point where were care about things that don’t affect us we will continue to have this system of mediocrity.
